BRAWG Industry Solutions faced a significant challenge at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s maintenance workshop in Blackwater, Queensland.
The existing concrete slab, trafficked by heavy mine vehicles, exhibited extensive cracking and groundwater surfacing, compromising structural integrity. The slab varied in thickness from 200mm to 350mm, with significant damage necessitating a robust solution to restore functionality without extensive downtime or high costs.
Rombus offered an innovative overlay solution, avoiding the need for complete slab removal and reconstruction. We applied our modular system, overlaying the damaged slab with Rombus Grid made from 100% recycled polypropylene. This method reduced costs, downtime and environmental impact. The solution required minimal new materials, using only stabilised crusher dust and concrete, significantly lowering carbon emissions.
The Rombus overlay system restored the workshop’s functionality within just 10 days, saving BMA significant downtime costs. The solution avoided extensive concrete removal and earthworks, reducing carbon emissions by over 130,284 kg. The use of recycled materials highlighted our commitment to sustainability. This project exemplifies our ability to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions.
